Amuneke apologizes after Eaglets dismal CAF U-17 campaign
Coach of the National U-17 team to the just concluded CAF U-17 Championship, Emmanuel Amuneke, has offered his apology to football fans across the Country after his team lost to South Africa in the semi-final and subsequently to Guinea in the third place play-off to finish 4th in Niger.
Amuneke was very critical of his players performance in the 3-1 defeat to Guinea despite taking a 30th-minute lead through 4 goal hero, Victor Osimhen.
In an exclusive chat with www.footballlive.ng, Amuneke it was pertinent to build on the experience gained in Niger towards presenting a stronger team for the october 17, 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.
” When you plan a thing and it doesn’t work out the way you want maybe you just let it go.
” We just have to look back to the experience gained at the tournament and make sure we look at our flaws and strength in Niger, build a stronger team as we look to chile, If any body feels sad we didn’t do well in Nigeria I apologize.”
Nigeria conceded 1 goal less than they scored (7) in the entire tournament in Niger.
