#NPFL Week 31Results -Bayelsa Utd Keeps their Relegation Survival bid alive with a 4-1 victory

Bayelsa Utd trashed Heartland FC 4-1 in a rescheduled Nigerian Professional Football League match played earlier on Monday (today). The match was postponed from yesterday due to heavy rainfall that made the playing turf unplayable. The victory gives Bayelsa Utd 29points though still rocking the bottom of the table, 7points away from 16th placed Sharks FC with 36points. This weekend action also saw the very first live NPFL match at night on TV which took place at the Nest of Champions in AkwaIbom the home ground of Akwa Utd that defeated Record breakers Nassarawa Utd 2-0. NIGERIAN SPORTS LEGEND -RASHIDI YEKINI…… "a successful 25years of football career but an impoverished end!" This edition’s sports legend previews the life and time of a legend of the round leather ball game, Rashidi Yekini who was born in the crocodile city of   Kaduna on the 23rd of October, 1963 and died in his home state Ibadan on the 4th of May 2012 after he suffered from a terminal disease for more than one year.  Rashidi Yekini played in the striking position and was well built with a height of over 6feet which made a force and nightmare to opposing team defenders. He was great footballer that Joseph S. Blatter (FIFA president) acknowledged him on his birthday, 23rd October, 2013 even after Yekini’s death. He started his professional football in Nigeria with UNTL Kaduna from 1981-1982, he moved on to shooting stars of Ibadan from 1982-1984 where he made 53 appearances and scored 45goals. Kano Pillars woes continues as Dolphins also compounds Bayelsa Utd woes in relegation waters

Kano Pillars lost 1-0 to Sharks of Portharcourt while Dolphins defeated Bayelsa Utd 2-0in week 28 NPFL fixture held on Monday both at Sharks stadium in Portharcourt. The defeat left Kano Pillars at the 10th position on the league table while Sharks FC is still in number 3 position from the bottom despite the victory.  The victory of Dolphins lifted them to 16th position and this victory made sure Bayelsa Utd are stuck on 20th position. Both matches were postponed to monday due to the AFCON qualifier match between Sieria Leone and Ivory coast that was played in Portharcourt during the weekend.
