CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGE DRAWS FOR 24TH MAY, 2016

The draw for the group stage will be held on 24th of May 2016. The eight teams will be drawn into two groups of four. The teams in each group will play each other in thesame group in a home-and-away round-robin basis. The winners and runners-up of each group advance to the semi-finals .
Nigerian Professional Football League 2014/2015 defending champions Enyimba International popularly known as the Peoples' Elephant are still in the race to win the Championship for the third time and their top striker Mfon Udoh is still leading the CAF Champions League top scorers chat with 7 goals.
The eight (8) teams in the DRAWS are
- ES Sétif of Algeria (North Africa)
- AS Vita Club of Congo DR (East Africa)
- Al-Ahly of Egypt( North Africa)
- Zamalek of Egypt (North Africa)
- ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast (West Africa)
- Wydad Casablanca of Morocco (North Africa)
- ENYIMBA of Nigeria (West Africa)
- ZESCO United of Zambia (South Africa)
North-African clubs dominate the group stage with four teams, followed by West-African clubs with 2 teams and one team each from East and South Africa.
Al-Ahly are the most successful club to have the won this league for the record of 8 times, Zamalek, another Egyptian side, have won it 5 times.
The winner of this season's competition will take home atleast $1.5million. That's $500,000 more than last season's prize money of $1million.
